It is certainly not the anticipated start for Team India, especially considering the prevalent discussions among cricket experts and fans about the perceived weaknesses in the South African pace unit. The opening day of the Boxing Day Test match at SuperSport Park in Centurion witnessed the Indian top order crumbling within 13 overs, managing to score a mere 38 runs.

Kagiso Rabada dominated the first hour, showcasing skillful movement in both directions at an impressive pace, causing trouble for the Indian batsmen. Rabada initiated the wicket column by dismissing Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who fell while attempting his favourite shot, the pull. Rohit had to depart after contributing 5 runs, including one boundary.

Following this, debutant Nandre Burger added to the Indian team's challenges, securing his first Test wicket by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for 17 runs, inclusive of four boundaries.

Burger continued to make an impact by dismissing the highly regarded Shubman Gill, who departed with only 2 runs to his name. India finds itself in a precarious situation.

Presently, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are holding the crease, with both batsmen surviving a dropped chance each. Their resilience and stay at the crease will be crucial if India aims to post a substantial total.
