Mohammed Siraj, who faced criticism for his subpar performances in the first two games of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023, made a strong comeback in the match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He struck first by dismissing Abdullah Shafique for 20.

Furthermore, Siraj returned to the spotlight when he ended the 82-run partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and the Pakistani skipper, Babar Azam. Babar Azam, shortly after reaching his half-century, fell victim to Siraj's impeccable delivery. The ball, well-pitched and angling in, prompted Babar to attempt a delicate shot towards the third man.

However, the ball's unexpected skid caused it to hit the top of the off-stump swiftly. The pace and movement of the ball caught Babar off guard, leaving his bat stranded as the ball sneaked through. It's possible that he expected more bounce. Nonetheless, Siraj provided India with a pivotal breakthrough, inciting an enthusiastic response from the crowd.

As for the toss, India won and opted to bowl. At the time of writing, Pakistan has lost six wickets and scored 170 runs in 35 overs. Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav each secured two wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah contributed one each to their name.

India made a single change by including Shubman Gill in place of Ishan Kishan, while Pakistan retained their lineup for the match.
