India even had a chance at victory, thanks to Dhruv Jurel's fantastic 90 and his partnership with Kuldeep Yadav in the first innings, which limited England's lead to just 46 runs. In the second innings, Jurel (39) stood strong with Gill (52) after India lost captain Rohit Sharma, who scored a half-century, and Jaiswal, who contributed 37, while Rajat Patidar (0), Ravindra Jadeja (4), and Sarfaraz Khan (0) fell like a pack of cards.
Day 1 began with India having England on the ropes at 112 for 5, however, Joe Root capitalized on Jasprit Bumrah's absence to score 121* and the visitors fought back. Initially, while 353 seemed a par score on this pitch, India stumbled from 86 for 1 to 176 for 7 late on Day 2.
However, Dhruv Jurel emerged as the saviour, displaying immense character and spirit and forming crucial partnerships with Kuldeep and Akash Deep, narrowing the deficit to a mere 46.
