Just what was expected from the spin legend R Ashwin, who is playing his 100th Test game! The spinner was brought into the attack in the 49th over of the fifth and final Test match, and he was yet to take a wicket. Ashwin made sure to get two as he dismissed Tom Hartley (6) and Mark Wood (0) in one over.

He got his first wicket by dismissing Hartley, thanks to a superb catch by Devdutt Padikkal on debut, marking Ravi Ashwin's first wicket in his 100th Test. Ashwin bowled a floaty slower ball, drifting outside off, tempting Hartley to go down on one knee in an attempt to smash the ball to the leg-side. Despite Hartley getting a thick top edge, Padikkal ran across to his left from deep mid-wicket and completed the catch with a tumble.

Later, Ashwin dismissed Mark Wood, who had just arrived at the crease. It was a gentle off-break delivered just outside off, and Wood attempted to block it with hard hands. However, he managed only to produce a healthy outside edge to the left of the lone slip. The Indian skipper timed his mini-leap perfectly, taking a fine low catch before tumbling.

At the time of writing this article, India will be looking to bowl England out on Day 1 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala with eight wickets already down. In 55 overs, the Three Lions have scored 194 runs, with Ben Foakes and Shoaib Bashir at the crease at Tea.

Kuldeep Yadav has been in top form, claiming a five-wicket haul and achieving his 50th Test wicket in the process. Ravindra Jadeja also got a wicket to his name, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj remained wicketless.
