Amidst all the criticism and hate that followed, Shubman Gill finally has something to cheer about as he reaches his half-century on Day 3 of the second Test between India and England in Visakhapatnam. However, the happy mood was dampened when the 81-run partnership was broken as Shreyas Iyer departed for 29 runs, courtesy of excellent fielding from England skipper Ben Stokes.

In the 26.3rd over, Gill smashed a four to reach a valuable and much-needed 50 for India's number 3 batter. This is his first half-century in 12 innings; fans were ecstatic about it.

However, the happiness was short-lived as Shreyas Iyer gave away his wicket for 29 runs. He danced out to a full delivery on the pads and tried to hoist it over the infield, but the bat turned upon impact, and he did not get the desired distance. English skipper Stokes runs back about 25 yards (22 meters) from mid-off and executes a dive to hold onto a difficult-looking catch.

Soon enough, fans on social media don't know what to feel about the situation, with one player scoring a 50 while the other gets out soon after.

As of writing this article, 33 overs have been played, and India has lost four wickets while scoring 118 runs, leading by 261 runs with Gill and Axar Patel at the crease. Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar could not stay for long as he walked back for 9 while Yashasvi Jaiswal couldn't replicate his first innings double ton, being dismissed for 17 runs, while Rohit was clean-bowled for 13, both victims of James Anderson's bowling prowess.

The 41-year-old pacer shows no signs of slowing down and appears to have gleaned insights from Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed a six-wicket haul on Day 2, dismissing England for 253 runs.

In the previous innings, the Men in Blue posted a total of 396 runs all-out, with Jaiswal achieving his maiden double-century, scoring 209 runs, while Gill contributed as the second-highest scorer with 34 runs.

During their chase, the visitors made a promising start, with Zak Crawley scoring 76 runs and Ben Duckett adding 21. However, their partnership was disrupted by Kuldeep Yadav.
