Akash Deep has been on fire in his debut against England in the 4th Test, claiming two wickets in three balls at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. He almost dismissed Zak Crawley, who was clean bowled, with the off-stump cartwheeling, but it turned out to be a no-ball, cutting short the celebrations. However, he returned to claim his wicket.

Deep then struck twice in an over. He first secured his maiden Test wicket by dismissing opener Ben Duckett with a lovely delivery that nipped back in from a good length, catching Duckett's edge for a simple catch by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. Deep pumped his chest with pride, showcasing his deserving performance while Duckett walked back for 11(21) [4s-1].
However, Deep wasn't content with just one wicket, as he soon after dismissed Ollie Pope, who had just walked to the crease. A massive LBW appeal was made by India, prompting them to take the review. Pope was a fair way down the pitch, and no bat was involved, as confirmed by UltraEdge. Ball-tracking showed three reds, making it a superb review as Akash Deep secured his second wicket as Ollie Pope was out for a duck.
As for his third wicket, Crawley made Deep wait, but he eventually got his wicket. This time, a sharp nip-backer cut Crawley in half, hitting the top of the off-stump. With three wickets in the first hour, Deep's performance was remarkable. Crawley departed for 42(42) [4s-6 6s-1].
At the time of writing this article, 12 overs were completed, and England had scored 57 runs while losing three wickets already.
Akash Deep's stellar performance, which included claiming 12 wickets across three matches against the England Lions, earned him the debut cap.
