The Indian cricket team is preparing to face Bangladesh in Match 17 of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 at Pune's Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday, October 19. India has been on a remarkable winning streak, currently leading the points table.

However, following England's unexpected loss to Afghanistan and South Africa's surprising defeat against the Netherlands, questions have arisen about whether India can maintain their momentum against the Bangla Tigers.

Bangladesh kicked off the tournament with a resounding victory over Afghanistan but subsequently suffered defeats against England and New Zealand. While team captain Shakib Al Hasan is nursing a minor quad injury, he is expected to recover in time for the crucial match against India.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma's team has no injury concerns and is likely to stick with the same playing eleven that secured a seven-wicket win against Pakistan. The Men in Blue also defeated Australia and Afghanistan.

In the head-to-head record, India has a substantial advantage in 50-over cricket. India has emerged victorious in 31 out of 40 ODI encounters, while Bangladesh has secured eight wins, with one match ending in no result in 2014.

However, Bangladesh will draw confidence from their recent ODI matchups against India. They notably defeated India in a 2023 Asia Cup group-stage match last month, marking the only ODI clash between the two teams this year.

Furthermore, Bangladesh pulled off an upset in the most recent bilateral ODI series in December 2022. Out of their last five ODI encounters with India, Bangladesh emerged victorious in three, igniting hope for another win in the upcoming game.
