India, after restricting Australia to a total of 199 runs, found themselves in a favourable position. However, their batting innings took an unexpected turn as they lost three key wickets - Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer - all departing for ducks. Yes, you read it correctly, all three batsmen were dismissed without scoring a single run, leaving India with just 2 runs on the board. This was certainly not the start that fans had anticipated, and for once, Chepauk witnessed a rare silence as the yellow team took early wickets.

Ishan Kishan was sent back to the pavilion by Mitchell Starc, while Josh Hazlewood dismissed both Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Frustrated fans took to social media, particularly Twitter, to express their disappointment, fearing that India might lose a match that had seemed to be well within their grasp.

In the first innings, Australia, opting to bat first, struggled to gain momentum early on, losing Mitch Marsh in the initial stages. Despite David Warner and Steve Smith's efforts to rebuild, India achieved a crucial breakthrough with Warner's dismissal.

Subsequently, the spinners took control of the match. Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah secured two each. Mohammed Siraj, R Ashwin, and Hardik Pandya also contributed with one wicket each.

On the Australian side, Steve Smith emerged as the top run-scorer, accumulating 46 runs, while David Warner (41), Marnus Labuschagne (27), and Mitchell Starc (28) attempted to boost the scoreboard but faced challenges in doing so.
