While fans grappled with emotions following India's close brush with victory and ultimate defeat in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the players, who experienced the heartbreak firsthand, are facing an even more challenging situation.

While supporters swiftly poured out their heartache and disappointment online, the players took some time to gather their thoughts before sharing messages on their social media platforms.

As the players gradually go online and express their sentiments, let's delve into the responses of the World Cup squad and observe how they are coping with the loss.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja posted a photo of himself in the dressing room with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He wrote, "We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating".

Opening batter Shubman Gill too shared the team's picture on Instagram and said, "Been almost 16 hours but still hurts like it did last night. Sometimes giving your everything isn’t enough. We fell short of our ultimate goal but every step in this journey has been a testament to our team's spirit and dedication. To our incredible fans, your unwavering support in our highs and lows means the world to us. This isn't the end, it’s not over until we win. Jai Hind".

India's No. 4 batter Shreyas Iyer also shared pictures and said, "We're heartbroken, it still hasn't sunk in and it won't for a while. My first World Cup was an experience that has taught me so much and made me grateful for everything that's come my way. Thank you to the BCCI, team management, support staff, my teammates and you the fans for backing us from the beginning right up until the end. And congratulations to the entire Australian team on a marvelous campaign".

Youngster Ishan Kishan, who had limited game time and served as a substitute on the field, shared a video capturing the Indian players enjoying their time. He wrote, "This past month or so with this team has been special. The memories created and emotions we have felt will stay with us forever. We can’t thank you enough for your undying love and support. The way the fans and country have united behind us has been surreal. We are heartbroken by the end result but we can all walk out with pride. We will regroup, reflect and be back stronger. Thank you for a wonderful campaign, Jai Hind".

Prasidh Krishna, drafted in as a replacement for the injured Hardik Pandya, expressed his pride despite not getting a chance to play, sharing a group picture.

Batter SuryaKumar Yadav aslo shared pictures from the game and wrote, "Heartbroken. This will take some time to sink in. Together in win, and in loss. Nothing will take away what this team means to all of us. We felt your immense love, support and energy everytime we stepped on the field. THANK YOU. Congratulations to the entire team of Australia on a great campaign".

Pacer Mohammed Shami, who had the most wickets in the World Cup wrote, "You win some, you lose some. Tough pill to swallow for us but we have our heads held high. Proud of this team & thanks for all love and support keep supporting & loving".

Players such as captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur and Hardik Pandya have yet to address the loss online.
