In the 1st T20I clash between India and Afghanistan, as the Men in Blue commenced their chase of the 158-run target in 20 overs, an unfortunate incident unfolded with skipper Rohit Sharma getting run out without scoring a run at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

In the second ball of the innings, a complete misunderstanding occurred between Rohit and Shubman Gill, resulting in both batsmen ending up on the same side of the crease. Rohit, who had come down the pitch, played the ball on the half-volley and drilled it to the right of mid-off.

The ball was swiftly retrieved by Zadran's significant dive, stopping it in its tracks. However, Shubman Gill fixated on Zadran's action, failed to notice Rohit's continued run. Consequently, the Indian captain sacrificed his wicket and had to depart without adding any runs to the scoreboard. While walking back, Rohit was unhappy and disappointed, while Gill attempted to explain his perspective to the captain.

Social media, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), promptly engaged in discussions to determine who was at fault for the first wicket falling in the second innings.

As of the current writing, India has lost both its openers. While Rohit went for a duck, Gill was stumped for 23(12) [4s-5]. In 4 overs, Team India has scored 28 runs and needs 131 runs to win.

Earlier, apart from Mohammad Nabi's 42, significant contributions came from Azmatullah Omarzai (29), Ibrahim Zadran (25), and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (23). Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each for India, while Shivam Dube secured one wicket.
