In the 1st encounter against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma fell victim to a run-out for a duck, courtesy of a misunderstanding with Shubman Gill. However, in the second T20I at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, he faced another setback, getting bowled for a duck by Fazalhaq Farooqi.

The shot appeared premeditated, with Rohit backing away and swinging across the line. Unfortunately, the length was unsuitable, and the ball sneaked under his swinging blade, crashing into the top of the middle stump. Farooqi and the Afghanistan players celebrated the wicket, leaving a dejected Rohit to walk back.
Disappointed fans swiftly took to social media platforms, especially X (formerly known as Twitter), to express their frustration over Rohit's back-to-back ducks.
Regarding the match, Afghanistan achieved their highest T20I score against India, posting 172 runs. Although the openers had a bright start, Ravi Bishnoi intervened to break the partnership. Gulbadin Naib, batting at 3, counter-attacked with powerful innings of 57, including 5 fours and 4 sixes, putting Afghanistan in a favourable position. Axar Patel later returned to dismiss Naib in his last over.

The visitors received a late surge from Mujeeb Ur Rahman (21), contributing to their final score. Axar Patel and Bishnoi each claimed two crucial wickets for India. Arshdeep Singh, who remained wicketless in the initial spell, secured three wickets in the death overs, finishing with figures of 3/32.
