Former India and CSK player Robin Uthappa has made a bold statement on MS Dhoni's run-out of Abdul Samad during the LSG vs CSK IPL 2025 match. CSK marked their comeback with a thumping win over LSG by five wickets at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, April 14. The team suffered five losses on the trot before playing against LSG.
Skipper MS Dhoni was rewarded with the Man of the Match award for his incredible wicket-keeping and match-winning cameo. The veteran got Ayush Badoni stumped out by a smart work behind the wickets; he also claimed a skier to get rid of Rishabh Pant and an exceptional direct hit with gloves on to send back Abdul Samad. Dhoni came to bat in the pressure situation and played a knock of 26 (11) not out and helped CSK get over the line.
In the final over of LSG's innings, CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni sent back Abdul Samad when he tried to sneak away with a bye on a wide ball. Dhoni, with his gloves on, threw the ball towards the non-striking end, which ended up hitting the stumps. This run-out became the highlight of the innings, with fans praising Dhoni for his outstanding skills.
On the other hand, Robin Uthappa, one of Dhoni's former teammates, made a shocking statement on the run-out. The former pro termed the direct hit a fluke and mentioned that it was unintentional. Here's what he said:
"I am someone who has worn gloves, I know this was a tukka," said Uthappa on Star Sports.
Chennai Super Kings win was backed by some incredible performances by their MS Dhoni. Apart from being the main character in CSK's victory, Dhoni achieved a big feat and became the first wicket-keeper to hit the 200 dismissal landmark in the history of the Indian Premier League.
