Pop sensation Dua Lipa reckons if she had to perform one song at the opening ceremony of a cricket World Cup, she would have to pick her synth-pop hit Physical.
"I think it's just fitting," she says in response to a question posed by a certain Mr. Shubman Gill, ahead of the epic India and New Zealand semi-final clash. "One Kiss always seems to go down well at matches. But maybe one of my new songs," added Dua Lipa after mulling over.
Gill's question was part of the '#AskDuaLipa' session which also features KL Rahul, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell. As part of broadcaster Star Sports' special lead-up programme to the semi-final event, the star cricketers got to fire away a few interesting questions at the singer-songwriter who seemed more than glad to answer them.
Of course, speculations are rife that Dua Lipa might perform the closing ceremony of the ongoing ICC men's ODI World Cup 2023, whose final will be held on November 19th at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. There's no official word on this, mind you, but who wouldn't love to see the mega event be concluded on such a high.
When asked by KL Rahul about the jersey number she would pick for herself, Dua Lipa said that 22 would be her choice considering it's her lucky number. Team India's wicket-keeper/batter reveals in the same vein that his jersey reads number '1' because it perfectly captures his wish or goal to be the best or the #1 at everything he does.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson had no qualms in confessing that his whole family loves Dua Lipa's music. "From my twin brother Logan to my daughter Maggie, our favourite song is Levitating," said the talisman Kiwi batter before asking which song the British-Albanian pop star loves to perform live.
"It really changes night after night, really depending. Obviously, Levitating, Don't Start Now and Physical are really the fun ones to perform. But some of my personal favourites from my last tour were Pretty Please and Love Again," she replied.
And when Daryl Mitchell sought a few tips to help himself and his two little girls dance in the living room, she said: "I think there's no rules when it comes to dancing and having fun. I think the best advice I can is enjoy yourself".
Dua Lipa is currently promoting her new single Houdini which dropped only a few days ago on November 10th. The song, which is laced with disco and electronica elements, is part of her upcoming third studio album.
