After days of hard work, last-ball thrillers, and heartbreaks, the time has come to crown a new champion at the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024. After knocking out defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminators, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have marched into the final of the WPL and will face the awaiting Delhi Capitals (DC).
The WPL 2024 Final between DC and RCB is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM IST at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (March 18). Fans can catch the live action on the Sports18 Network and stream it on the Jio Cinema app and website.
The Delhi Capitals, led by the inspirational Meg Lanning, have booked their spot in the final of the WPL 2024, having topped the points table with 6 wins and 2 losses from eight games. DC had lost the season opener to MI in Bengaluru, but they soon found momentum and went on to win the rest. The next match they lost was against UP Warriorz (UPW) by just one run. The Delhi franchise, who have made it to their second final, will be looking to cross the line this year and clinch the trophy.
As for RCB, they had an inconsistent league stage, winning four games and losing as many. It's interesting to note that Smriti Mandhana's RCB did not win any of the two games against DC in the league stage. They could have won the second clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which they lost by just a run. However, RCB's fortunes have been on the winning side as of now, having managed to defend their low total of 135 against MI in the Eliminator.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi is renowned for its high-scoring matches and the average first-innings total at the stadium is 139, while the average second-innings total is 133 in T20Is. Out of the 13 T20I games played at the stadium, teams batting first have emerged victorious in 4 matches, while chasing teams have won 9 games.
