After having led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to yet another Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy, there were rumours that skipper MS Dhoni, who is now 41, could retire from the IPL. However, Dhoni has not provided any confirmation of his retirement intentions.
The 'Captain Cool' in the 2023 season saw his side beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets in the final and lift their 5th IPL trophy. However, soon after, he underwent knee surgery in Mumbai.
With fans anticipating the 'Thala' future with CSK, the IPL franchise recently took to Twitter and shared a video with Dhoni in the interim.
Fans were perplexed when the team published the emotional video and questioned if the cryptic tweet implied that Dhoni won't be part of CSK anymore.
In IPL 2023, Dhoni played the entire season with a heavily strapped left knee. A source close to CSK management told PTI, "Yes, Dhoni has had a successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. He is doing fine and will be released in a day or two. He would be resting for a few days before his extensive rehabilitation starts. It is now expected that he would have enough time to get fit to play in the next IPL".
