A sad update is coming for all the Mumbai Indians fans out there, as their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah's comeback in IPL 2025 has been further delayed till mid-April 2025. Earlier, the player was supposed to join the MI squad in the first week of April 2025.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Bumrah is currently undergoing rehabilitation and will only return to action after clearing the final rounds of fitness tests. As of now, the big positive update about the bowler is that he has started to steadily increase the bowling frequency in recent times at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Bumrah's return to cricket has been closely monitored, as the bowler's presence will be crucial in the upcoming India vs England Test Series in June 2025. The bowler too has been cautious and is not hurrying his comeback in the IPL 2025.
This means that MI will continue without Bumrah for the next two matches against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Over the years, Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as the premium pacer for India and MI. His ability to pick wickets at any phase of the game makes him unplayable even on the batting-friendly surfaces. He has been among the leading wicket takers across all the formats of the game.
Bumrah's recent outing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has been highly praised by the cricket experts. The bowler picked 31 wickets in five Test matches played on the Australian soil. However, the player sustained a back injury in the first innings of the Sydney Test, and since then, he has been out of the cricketing action. The player also missed the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to the injury.
With Jasprit Bumrah set to miss the next two matches for Mumbai Indians (MI), cricket fans can expect him to play in the DC vs MI clash on April 13. Till then, MI will continue to rely on the current bowling lineup consisting of Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, and Ashwani Kumar.
