While Match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT), the focus surely was on the Pandya brothers Krunal and Hardik who were facing each other.
As the match began with Hardik Pandya winning the toss and opting to bat first, he saw his side struggle to get going. They finished with a rather modest score of 135/6.
They lost Shubman Gill for a duck, but Wriddhiman Saha enjoyed himself with a breezy knock of 37-ball 47 and allowed Hardik to settle.
At 71 for 1 at the halfway stage, the Titans looked to cross the 150+ score, but they were dragged back in the next set of 10 overs.
Krunal, Amit Mishra, Naveen-ul-Haq and Marcus Stoinis used their variations to strangulate the Titans.
While Hardik kept quiet for the most part of the game, in the 19-run over, he accelerated to only get dismissed for 66.
Krunal was the pick of the bowler as in his 4 overs he gave away just 16 runs and took two crucial wickets.
So post the innings of Gujarat, Krunal was asked if he and Hardik spoke before the game and the elder Pandya brother said, "We were pulling our legs a bit. He told me before the game that I will go after you, I told him that the last time he went after me, I got him out so don't repeat the mistake".
As for the game, as of writing this article, Lucknow Super Giants needed 23 runs in 18 balls. The side lost three wickets by skipper KL Rahul leading from the front with his 61-run knock. He is joined by Ayush Badoni.
