Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has suffered a big heart attack while playing in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on Monday, March 24. The player was representing Mohammden Sporting Club against Shinupukur Cricket Club in BKSP. The 36-year-old player is reportedly in serious condition and has been hospitalised.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the former Bangladesh skipper felt severe chest pain while being on the field. Tamim was rushed to the Fazilatunnesa hospital for the treatment, where the situation became more critical.
The latest statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician, Debashish Chowdhury, stated, "He complained of having chest pain and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was checked and underwent an ECG. There was a little problem, and at times you cannot understand immediately (what the condition of the heart is)."
Debashish further said, "In the first blood test, there was a problem. He said he was feeling uncomfortable and wanted to go back to Dhaka. An ambulance was called in, and when he was returning to the field from the hospital, he felt a pain in the chest again. He was then brought to the hospital for the second time, and it seemed he had a massive heart attack. Now he is under observation at Fazilatunnesa Hospital."
As soon as the news came out about Tamim Iqbal, the several board directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) headed to Savar to check the ongoing situation of Tamim Iqbal.
The entire cricketing fraternity would be hoping for the quick recovery of the Bangladeshi player and see him back on the field.
