India got off to a disappointing start against Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 showdown on Saturday, September 2, at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. The senior players of the Men in Blue, skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both were swiftly sent back to the pavilion with minimal contributions.

Initially, India had a promising beginning, but the rain interruption altered the course of the game. Following the resumption of play, India's captain, Rohit Sharma, and soon after Virat Kohli, both fell without adding much to the scorecard.

Shaheen Afridi clean-bowled Sharma, who managed just 11 runs from 22 deliveries, succumbing to an exceptional inswinging delivery. Subsequently, Virat Kohli also fell victim to Shaheen, as he dragged the ball onto his stumps after an inside edge. Kohli could only muster 4 runs from 7 balls, further highlighting his struggles in high-pressure matches for India.

Following Kohli's early dismissal, fans took to social media to mock the Indian batter, and the term 'Chokli' began trending on Twitter.

As for the clash, India lost four key wickets - Sharma, Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (14) and Shubamn Gill (10). The game faced rain interruption twice and the Indian side now has to rely on the lower order to recover from the damage.
