Is India perhaps underestimating Nepal in Match 5 of the Asia Cup 2023? The Indian team has, within just a few overs, let three crucial catches slip through their fingers. Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, and Ishan Kishan all missed chances to dismiss the two Nepal openers in the initial five overs.

In the final delivery of the 1st over, Kushal Bhurtel edged the ball, and Shreyas Iyer at first slip attempted a catch but couldn't hold on to it. Although he moved to his right, the ball eluded his grasp.

In the very next over, Kohli dropped a straightforward chance to dismiss Aasif Sheikh. As the batter drove with the swing, he sent the ball straight to the cover point, but Kohli, in an attempt to catch it, fumbled and let it slip.

Then, in the 4th over, a delivery down the leg side resulted in Bhurtel trying a pull shot, resulting in a glove on the ball. Ishan Kishan, positioned to the left, had a clear opportunity for a catch, but to everyone's surprise, the wicketkeeper allowed the ball to pass by, resulting in a boundary.

Observing India's fielding lapses against Nepal, fans are beginning to question whether this team is adequately prepared for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

As for the clash, India won the toss and opted to field. The Nepal batters, as of writing this article, have posted 42 runs in eight overs. Kushal Bhurtel has scored 22 runs off 17 balls while Aasif Sheikh has 16 runs to his name off 31 balls.
