Day 4 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 saw India come in to chase the mammoth 444 runs posted by Australia. However, on the road to chase, opener Shubman Gill was given out for 18. But, netizens believe that the wicket was 'unfair'.

So what exactly happened?

Scott Boland in his over saw Shubman Gill get an edge and the ball travelled towards Cameron Green at gully. The ball went quickly low to Green's left and he showed sharp reflexes to take a one-handed catch.

However, Gill hung around and the umpires sent it upstairs to check for a clean catch. In the replay, Green was seen going one-handed with his left hand, diving across and catching the ball. But he went down and touched the ground because of the force.

The main issue rose here if the ball touched the ground or not.

The camera angle wasn't great when looked at from the front but after many replays, the 3rd umpire said, "Fingers underneath the ball".

OUT flashed on the big screen and Gill had to go. Rohit seemed livid and was seen talking to the field umpires, but the decision was taken.

Soon after, netizens took to Twitter to call the decision unfair.

As for the clash, India posted 41 runs and lost the wicket of Gill. The Men in Blue need 403 runs to win at Tea.

While many already know the victory is not what India could have, it would now be on the side to hang on and draw the game.
