India's lone warrior at the All England Open Badminton Championships 2024, Lakshya Sen, will look to keep the country's hopes alive as he is set to take on Indonesia's Jonatan Christie in the men's singles semi-final on Saturday (March 16) at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

The Indian shuttler will face Jonatan Christie around 6:50 PM IST, and the live action will be available to stream on the Jio Cinema app and website in India. Sports 18-1 and Sports 18-3 channels will telecast the event live in India.

About Lakshya Sen's clash:

In the quarter-finals, Sen staged a thrilling come-from-behind victory against the World No. 10 Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia. The Indian player overcame the Malaysian, securing a score of 20-22, 21-16, and 21-19 in a match that lasted for an hour and 10 minutes.

Sen has now reached the All England Open semi-final for the second time in his career. Previously, only Prakash Padukone (1981) and Pullela Gopichand (2001) have claimed All-England crowns for India.

Meanwhile, Jonatan Christie secured his first All-England semi-final berth after his game against Shi Yuqi saw the Chinese retire following the loss of the first game.

Other Indians:

On Thursday, India's top shuttler PV Sindhu suffered a setback in the Round of 16, falling to defeat with scores of 21-19, 21-11 against reigning world champion An Se Young of Korea.

The Indian women's doubles team, comprising Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa, also bowed out of the tournament in the Round of 16. Despite securing the opening game against Zhang and Zheng of China, they ultimately lost the match with scores of 11-21, 21-11, 21-11.

Additionally, the Indian men's doubles pair, consisting of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who were all expected to win the competition, also exited after a straight-game loss to Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana of Indonesia, with scores of 16-21, 15-21.
