The final spot for the upcoming 2024 T20I World Cup has been secured, and a total of 20 teams will vie for the trophy in the tournament set to be held in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). 

Spanning from June 4 to June 30, 2024, the event will unfold across ten venues, marking the inaugural occasion of an official ICC World Cup taking place in the United States.

England holds the current championship title, having emerged victorious in 2022. The most successful teams in the competition's history are England and the host nation West Indies, each boasting two titles.

Let's delve into the teams qualified for the tournament:

A comprehensive lineup of 20 teams is slated to participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The top eight teams from the T20I World Cup 2022, in addition to the two host nations, the West Indies and the USA, secured automatic qualification for the T20I World Cup 2024. Furthermore, the next two highest-ranked teams, as per the ICC Rankings, also earned automatic qualification.

The remaining eight slots were filled through teams triumphing in the regional qualifiers. The Europe, Asia, and Africa regions were allocated two slots each, while the East-Asia Pacific Region and the Americas region each clinched one slot.

The West Indies and the USA earned automatic entry as hosts, with the latter set to make their debut in the tournament.

England, Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Australia, South Africa, Netherlands, and Sri Lanka secured their positions by finishing in the top eight of the previous T20 World Cup in 2022.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh were subsequently included as the next two highest-ranked teams in the T20I rankings.

The remaining spots were determined through regional qualifiers, with Ireland and Scotland emerging from the European section, and Papua New Guinea securing a place through the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.

Canada, making their tournament debut, advanced through the Americas Qualifier, while Nepal and Oman emerged as the Asian qualifiers.

How does the tournament work?

The 2024 T20 World Cup, which runs between June 4-30, will see the 20 teams divided into four groups of five with the top two sides advancing to the Super 8 stage. The Super 8 will feature two pools of four with the top two making the semi-finals.
