Homicide: Life on the street was executed for seven seasons and was based on the novel, Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon. This crime drama also came across several crossovers with Dick Wolf's Law and Order. Paul Attanasio, on the other hand, created these 122 episodes of police procedural and depicts the story of detectives solving crimes. Since the plot follows the work of a fictional version of the Baltimore police department, the producers of Homicide more often insisted their staff writers live in the Baltimore area whenever they deemed it possible. Homicide: The Movie also came during 2000, soon after the conclusion of the series, and was shown on NBC.
