Bhakti, in Hinduism, refers to a devotee’s adulation and devotion for a preferred god. It literally translates to ‘attachment, homage, faith, love, worship and purity’, all in one. A geet, on the other hand, literally means a song. Thus, Bhakti Geet or a ‘religious or devotional song’ refers to any song sung in the praise of Lord. It has religious themes and spiritual ideas weaved into a lyrical form and based mostly on old melodic ragas.
