Story:

A lottery salesperson who hails from a poor economic background goes on a trip to Nepal with his friend and moneylender to trace his worker. Events in his life turn upside down when he learns some unexpected truths.

Review:

Trips and adventures always top Malayali’s favourite list, especially in a movie. Such stories always touch the hearts of the audience and the intent of the team behind the film seems to be that but unfortunately, it does not work out due to the dull scripting. The story idea will seem familiar as well, since we would have already witnessed many such tales.

Lottery ticket seller Baby (Bibin George), his friend Peter (Dharmajan) and the moneylender Alexander (Johny Antony) are the vital characters, on whom the story is centered. Baby’s employer, who hails from Nepal, suddenly disappears with some of the valuable belongings of the former. Baby and his friend decide to chase him, while the moneylender who helps them in the crisis, also joins the duo. The trio heads to Nepal only to learn some truths, which leads to the climax and a total disappointment.

The complete plot is not something new, neither has any interesting treatment. The storytelling offers nothing new, except the characters and incidents that take place in the narrative. The hero, who is a village family man with a financial crisis, never experiences a change in his life until the climax scene. The hero is also not very new to the audiences, as we have already witnessed many of them who try their luck till the end of the ribbon to make their lives right and then have a dramatic ending, which pays off all their sweat. Baby is also the same.

Many of the scenes and the leads feel unwanted or the ideas, half-baked. The latter half of the movie drags the story, making you lose your patience. One would feel the story idea to be dull, which cannot even be saved by a brilliant script. The story lags proper treatment and journey and with the supposedly surprising and happy ending, it makes it worse. The whole attempt to tell the story seems to have gone in vain, so did their trip to Nepal. Even though there are some interesting sequences in the story, the climax crushes it all.

The only green light about the movie is its cinematography. The cameraman has pulled off an excellent job, especially in capturing the beauty of Nepal’s terrestrials. The mountains and the trek would seem so realistic and a few shots of Mt. Everest would also give travel lovers, a chill down their spines.

While talking about the actors, the major cast has done a decent job, which is the reason why anyone might survive the movie. The hero and the other vital characters including Innocent and Salim Kumar have kept their standards in terms of handling their jobs neatly. The trio has also made it up to the mark, be it be with their combination scenes or timings.

While the film offers a visual treat with its cinematography, it also offers an audio treat through many soulful background scores and tracks. Music has worked out well for the plot and complements the beauty of Nepal’s hill ranges.

Helmed by Rajiv Shetty, the movie is also written by him with Xavier Alex. The music is handled by Bijibal Maniyil and Sreejith Edavana while the cinematography is by Faisal Ali. The cast also includes actors like Hareesh Kanaran, Anna Rajan, Swastima Khadka, Nazeer Sankranthi and Umesh Tamang.

Verdict:

The movie is a one-time watch for the soulful visuals it offers with the ear-pleasing background music. But you might want to think twice if you cannot tolerate a dull storyline even with actors doing their best.
