Golam Story: Strange circumstances led to the untimely death of businessman Isaac John in his company’s restroom. The case is assigned to Sandeep Krishnan, a young police officer, and his team. Even though the death at first seemed like a fall gone wrong, Sandeep thinks it was a well-planned murder and starts looking into it. The main question of the movie is whether the murder was an accident or the result of retaliation or personal grudges.

Golam Review: When director Samjad stated that viewers should not infer much about the story from the movie's trailer, he stuck to his word. It would come as a surprise to viewers when, less than 30 minutes into the movie, the plot unexpectedly changes. Although Malayalis are enjoying some unconventional thrillers this year, Golam has a distinct place thanks to its well-written narrative and handling of the genre.

Businessman Isaac John dies suddenly under strange circumstances in his company lavatory. Sandeep Krishna, a young police officer, and his squad are given the case. Sandeep believes there was foul play and describes the death as a well-planned murder, despite the fact that it initially appeared to be an unfortunate accident. The investigator discovers some startling facts as he digs deeper into the lives of the victim and the suspects, which turns the movie from an ordinary investigation thriller to a medical crime thriller.

The mystery surrounding the victim's life and death is quickly solved by the makers, keeping viewers interested throughout without taxing them too much. Additionally, they did a good job of avoiding having multiple decoy suspects throughout the story or prolonging it with unfinished subplots.

To the audience's surprise, the second half takes a completely different turn from the first, which centres on Sandeep's search for a motive and, moreover, the one piece of evidence that supports his suspicions or points him in the direction of the culprit. A sequel is also hinted at by the ending, which describes Sandeep's efforts to solve a crime of greater magnitude.

Even though he seems to be smouldering most of the time in his police role, Ranjith Sajeev gives a decent performance, along with the rest of the cast. Siddique's portrayal of a pivotal character who brings about the startling revelations gives the story more depth. Despite having little on screen time, Sunny Wayne and Dileesh Pothan both play their parts well. By utilising a clear and concise screenplay while adhering to the genre, the director and screenwriter have both done an excellent job.

Even though the movie has some predictable moments, Golam never fails to captivate viewers. The cop's quandary about whether humanity is greater than the law, however, is merely a plot device that adds little substance to the movie.

Golam Verdict: If you are a fan of thrillers, Golam is generally worth seeing once. It is a good medical thriller, if nothing else, because of the genre and the skillfully written details in the script.
