Pandu review: Sonalee Kulkarni's film is a commercial entertainer made for families to enjoy

Pandu makes you laugh and stay intrigued by the story. It is not without its flaws, but being a family entertainer, when you go out with your parents or siblings just for fun, this film guarantees that.

Story:

Pandya (Pandu) is an entertainer without a real job. With political influence, he gets a job as a police officer and then as a traffic inspector. Pandu is someone who takes life lightly but takes his job seriously. He soon becomes a hero but realizes his whole life has been a lie. How will Pandu cope with that? Will he remain a hero or become a villain?

Review:

Pandu is not your regular story. It has a political setup, which shows how Pandu (Pandya) became Pandu (traffic police) after being an entertainer for so long.

The movie has simple comedy, which is effective enough. Situational comedy has been one of the most proven methods of comedy across industries. Pandu's being a buffoon helps the comedy to a great extent.

Sonalee Kulkarni's entry is quite filmy. Soon, there is an item song that changes the mood from comedy to romance. The comedy element there is in the form of men dancing, dressed up as scarecrows.

The drama gets intense, which also makes the film intriguing. Thus, Pandu ticks all the elements. However, the film is more convenient than the reap. That takes the energy of the film down.

The Bhurum Bhurum song is a completely commercial song that comes as a welcome surprise after a dramatic moment. How he gets into trouble with the mother and wife fighting is well explored in the film.

Sonalee gets into action, which is so refreshing and exciting at the same time. The comedy turns intense in the second half. It is still interesting, though.

The movie tries to be commercial right up to the end. Babasaheb does an action that was unnecessary and just for effect. The movie ends on a cliffhanger, hinting at a sequel. With that, you realize Pandu is so much more than just the story of Pandya. It is about who he considers close, the terror that comes with his job, and the hilarious situations he gets stuck in time after time.

Verdict

Pandu is a family entertainer. Kids can watch the film with their parents in theatres and laugh their hearts out. From a critical viewpoint, the film does have its flaws, but it is something that can be ignored because, overall, Pandu gives a good feel and keeps you interested in the story.
