Mathu Vadalara 2 Review

Mathu Vadalara 2 is the much-awaited sequel of Mathu Vadalara which was a decent hit at the box office. The new age comedy worked well with the urban audience and director Ritesh Rana is now back with its sequel and promised more fun. Well, he delivers with the entertainment part, the rest of his narration is jaded. His writing only focuses on the entertainment part rather than the flow of scenes and solving the murder mystery. He takes easy routes to narrate the film and one gets the idea that we should ignore the logic and only enjoy the magic part of the film.

Ritesh's story is weak and is also predictable for the most part. But what works for the film is the hilarious comedy evoked by star comedian Satya. He is at the peak of his career and delivers what is expected of him. The first part was a rage because of Satya's comedy and all those who come in expecting more dosage of comedy from him will surely be impressed.

Ritesh Rana has showcased Satya in such a way that even if the actor makes a small move, it looks fun to watch. The first half of Mathu Vadalara 2 is hilarious and has great comedy. The way the duo deals with criminals, gets into trouble, and manages to get framed, is showcased in a fun manner. The logic is also maintained properly and an underlying thrill factor is also evoked by the interval point.

Sadly, the director lacks fresh ideas in the second half and makes things predictable. The concentration is more on narrating the story than the comedy that everyone has come in for. Many actors are ignored in the film. A superb comedian like Sunil is ignored in a very silly role. He is just there to create more confusion in the narrative and does not bring any depth to the film.

The same is the case with heroine Faria Abdullah as well. She too plays a special agent but is hardly involved in the narrative. Ritesh Rana has so much scope to evoke more comedy but that goes for a toss as the thrills in solving the case are highlighted more. But even in such dull situations, Satya holds your attention with his hilarious performance. The way he has mouthed those one-liners keeps you at bay and engages the audience.

Sri Simha Koduri, nephew of S S Rajamouli, is decent in his role. As said earlier, Sunil is wasted. Faria Abdullah has limited scope but makes an impact. Ajay is routine in his role. Seasoned comedian Vennela Kishore was hilarious in his role and one also feels that he should have been used more in the narrative.

Rohini gets a good role and is surprised by her act. Kaala Bhairava has composed the music and his BGM elevates the proceedings decently. The camera work is superb and most importantly, the production design is done in such a way that the film looks wacky for the most part. The loud camerawork only enhances the comedy in the film.

The dialogues are the best and Satya takes them to the next level with his dialogue delivery. Mathu Vadalara 2 is surely a film that needs to be watched in theaters. Is it better than the first part, well, the comedy is good, but the rest of the story and narration is just passable.

Mathu Vadalara 2 Verdict

On the whole, Mathu Vadalara 2 is a decent comedy caper that has situational comedy at its best. While the narrative gets jaded a bit in the latter part, Satya's hilarious performance makes the film a watchable fare for its clean entertainment.
