Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam Story

While she is away on a holy trip, Subramanyam receives a message stating that his bank account has been credited with ten lakh rupees. At first, Subramanyam gets scared but goes full throttle and spends away the money. This lands him in deep trouble with his wife, cops, and neighbors. The rest of the story is about how he gets back that money along with his son Arjun (Ankith Koyya).

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam Review

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam has been directed by Lakshman Karya and is an out-and-out comedy. Seasoned actor, Rao Ramesh is known for his comedy and satirical punches in the characters he has played so far. What happens when such an actor is made the main lead and the entire story is weaved around him? That is the basic backdrop of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam.

A jobless guy in his late 40s getting a huge amount and going crazy is the basic storyline of the film. Well, first things first, in today's date and time, one looks for a lot of logic while watching this film. The character of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam is unaware for the most part as to who has credited money in his account.

This aspect lacks basic logic but to enjoy the film, one needs to forget such key aspects and keep the logic aside. Once you do this, Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam is a fun ride with loads of humor. Director Lakshman Karya has designed the character of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam in such a way that one connects to him easily.

Also, the way Rao Ramesh plays it to the galleries makes things quite interesting. The entire first half showcases the character of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam and how he reacts to getting a big amount. The comedy generated, the interactions between the father and son, and the drama generated is quite funny and keeps the audience in a light-hearted mood.

However, it is the second half, which makes things boring. The comedy is dragged for no reason and the redemption that the character of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam goes through in his life is not showcased properly. The character graph of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam does not change even at the end of the film and is shown in such a way that even if life sends him deep down the alley, his personality does not change.

There was a lot of scope for the director to evoke strong emotions and showcase how a mature man who is irresponsible can become responsible in life and handle his issues. But all this is pushed aside as the director ends the film on a very predictable and convenient note. Coming to the performances, Rao Ramesh is the life and soul of the film.

One cannot imagine anyone else in the character of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam apart from Rao Ramesh. The seasoned actor is superb and evokes solid comedy in his role. The way he interacts with his son and throws punches at regular intervals, Rao Ramesh is a laugh riot. Young hero Ankith Koyya plays Rao Ramesh's son and he too is impressive in his role and gives ample support to Rao Ramesh.

Social media sensation Ramya Pasupuleti is also neat but her character is showcased in an over-the-top manner. Indraja as the responsible mother was also very good in her character. Harshvardhan is superb in his role and all his scenes with Rao Ramesh are hilarious. The production values of the film are decent but the one that walks away with the cake is the dialogue.

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam has hilarious dialogues and the ones Rao Ramesh mouths are superb. The music is pretty good and the BGM enhanced the narrative. The screenplay is good but also has convenient choices. Too many cinematic liberties have been taken and all those who look for logic can stay away from this film. Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam is a simple film that generates decent comedy.
