Story: Inspector Avinash follows the real-life story of Avinash Mishra, who vowed and accomplished to curb multiple criminals from the face of UP during the late 1990s. Directed by Neeraj Pathak, the crime-drama series stars Randeep Hooda in the lead role along with Urvashi Rautela as his love interest and Soundarya Sharma, Rajneesh Duggal, Amit Sial, Freddy Daruwala, Govind Namdev, Abhimanyu Singh, Shalin Bhanot, Rahul Mittra and Adhyayan Suman as important key characters.
Review: Inspector Avinash is summoned to court over allegations of a few illegal encounters by him and his team. Played by Randeep Hooda, Inspector Avinash has a backstory that promises to tell you how he ended up in that very moment.
The show further chronicles multiple investigations and encounters that have been done of Inspector Avinash with his team back to back in UP and nearby states as well.
Hooda gets introduced as a fierce cop, who is a religious, patriot, with a hint of a sense of humour and ruthless when needed. Meanwhile, the actor emerges in each of the scenes as a marvellous performer. Whether he is being funny or serious, Hooda makes the sequences impactful and interesting. And not only in the action scenes, but he aces the accent and the body language of a local man from UP.
Writer and director Neeraj Pathak has written the story well and executed it on screen as perfectly as needed because none of the sequences bore you or feel disconnected even when Inspector Avinash keeps jumping from one case to another. Meanwhile, a lot of real-life events have been re-created creatively as well as carefully to not make insensitive against anyone's religious belief.
Talking about other actors, Duggal and Bhanot play important characters and support Hooda well, while Freddy Daruwala and Abhimanyu Singh get introduced as promising villains in this crime-drama series.
On the other hand, Rautela and Hooda's romantic angle completes the show as the perfect masala entertainment.
According to the first two episodes that premiered on Jio Cinema, Inspector Avinash offers an intriguing watch with all its action-thriller sequences as well as an apt amount of comic timing and a pinch of romance.
Verdict: Based on real-life events, Hooda's show definitely entertains and captivates the audience. However, the show needs a more powerful story and some stellar scenes for the viewers to stay gripped by it. Currently, at one point, you might find some scenes repetitive. The first two episodes of Inspector Avinash ought to be watched on Jio Cinema for the creative storytelling and ace performances.
