Double Ismart Story

Big Bull (Sanjay Dutt) is an international mafia don who is on the verge of losing his life. The doctors suggest he get a brain transfer to stay alive. The search begins to find the man, and it leads to Shankar (Ram Pothineni), who is already living with a USB device. He is a perfect match and the brain transfer happens successfully. But things change once the transfer happens, and a massive rift between Big Bull and Shankar arises, making it the basic crux of Double Ismart.

Double Ismart Review

Double Ismart is the sequel to the hit film Ismart Shankar, which was a rage at the box office. Well, Puri Jagannadh is back with the sequel and needs to prove a point with the film, as his last film, Liger, ended as a massive flop at the box office. The basic idea sounds good on paper and has a lot of scope to create mad fun and action.

But Puri Jagannadh did not fully use the script and narrated Double Ismart in a very routine and ordinary manner. The film did not live up to the hype created and is nowhere near Ismart Shankar. The first half has decent moments, and the character of Ram Pothineni keeps us engaged.

But once again, things fall flat in the second half, and this is due to an unengaging screenplay, which is bad and does not create that much of an impact. Jhansi is seen in a key role, but her role is not developed properly. Proper care should have been taken to make things interesting. Pragati is also seen in an important role, but her loud acting kills the interest of the audience.

Puri Jagannadh's films always have great comedy, and Ali's role was promoted as one of the biggest highlights of the film. But sadly, the comedy is cringeworthy and cheap, to say the least. This entire track should have been edited out to make things a lot better. Ali, who is known for his impressive antics, fails to entertain big time.

Yet another drawback of the film is the face-off between the hero and the villain. It is not established properly at all. Sanjay Dutt sleepwalks in his role and looks least interested in the film after a while. This makes the conflict point look outdated and the excitement to see the likes of Ram taking on Sanjay Dutt loses hope midway.

There are no standout scenes in the film that hold your attention until the end. Coming to the performances, Ram Pothineni is the saving grace of the film and delivers a superb performance. Be it his dances, dialogue delivery, or the way he mouths his dialogue, Ram meets all the expectations. Sayaji Shinde is seen in a good role after a very long gap, and he is good.

Mani Sharma has composed the songs in the film and they are decent. But his background score leaves a lot to be desired. The production values are not that great, but the locations chosen are good. In a way, Puri Jagan has lost his Midas touch, and there is no denying the fact. Double Ismart is made only to cash in on the craze of the character of Shankar. But things fall flat and end on a disappointing note for Ram Pothineni.

Double Ismart Verdict

On the whole, Double Ismart fails to live up to all the hype created. The film is nowhere close to Ismart Shankar and has a lackluster screenplay. The comedy does not click, and Sanjay Dutt's presence does not help matters much. But a few songs, fights, mass moments, and Ram Pothineni's energetic performances are the only aspects that work in Double Ismart.
