Crew story:
The story of director Rajesh Krishnan's Crew revolves around three hostesses, Divya Rana (Kriti Sanon), Geeta Sethi (Tabu) and Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor Khan), who try to earn a quick buck after not receiving their salaries for six months from their airline company, Kohinoor Airlines. In the midst of this, they find themselves in a deep mess.
Crew movie review:
Rhea Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Digvijay Purohit, and Ektaa Kapoor's production venture begins smoothly with the introduction of Divya, Geeta, and Jasmine. The air hostesses come with their personal baggage, but it's their professional lives that add to the stress. Despite receiving no salary for six months, they continue to work hard without any complaints. However, when their airline declares bankruptcy, the trio, in dire need of money, comes up with a master plan to make a quick buck. But things aren't easy for them as they find themselves in the middle of a major crisis, which unravels the dark secret of Kohinoor Airlines, led by Vijay Wallya (Saswata Chatterjee).
The story sounds interesting, right? But execution is where Crew falters. The makers take a long time to build the main crux of the story. That's the very first place where Crew falters. By the time the plot unravels, you're half way into the film and have had a few laughs. While certain one-liners are funny, a few seem derogatory. The tonality of certain scenes in Crew could've been reworked, so that they don't sound problematic.
Having said that, Kareena, Tabu and Kriti try their level best to give Crew a safe landing with their performances. Their on-screen act and the camaraderie are the saving graces of this turbulent ride. Diljit Dosanjh, who plays Jaiveer in the film, makes an impact with his character in a cameo appearance. Kapil Sharma, too, delievers a good performance. But since he has limited screen space in the film, the comedian-actor's potential goes unutilized.
When it comes to the film's music, Choli Ke Peeche's recreated version suits the scenario where it is placed in the movie well. Other than that, Diljit Dosanjh and Badshah's track Naina is soothing to the ears.
Crew final verdict:
On the whole, Crew is a film that comes with a disclaimer: there's turbulence ahead. With few bumps here and there, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon offer a turbulent ride.
