Story: Class of '09 is a futuristic drama thriller series that parallels three timelines in the lives of FBI agents in Quantico, including 2009, 2023, and 2034. Kate Mara, Brian Tyree Henry, Sepideh Moafi, and Brian J. Smith are just a few of the talented cast members of Tom Rob Smith's Disney+ Hotstar show.
Review: AI has become an integral part of our day-to-day lives, if it has not overtaken the whole world yet. You talk to your friend about finding someone special, and voila! After a few minutes, you get an ad or suggestion to download a particular dating app on your phone (true story!). In fact, sometimes you only think or wish to buy something and get a pop-up of a shopping app. Class of '09 talks about the power of AI in a whole new avatar that can become a threat to humanity.
The latest OTT show is certainly not a dystopian drama; however, it is definitely a futuristic sci-fi action thriller. It focuses on how the rise of artificial intelligence is changing the U.S. criminal justice system while following the lives and careers of a group of FBI recruits.
Not only with the criminals in the outside world, but these newly recruited agents witness a fight, conspiracy, and corruption within the system and get to fight against it. However, they themselves become victims of the immorality going on inside the FBI.
An AI system, made by one of the agents, appears to be able to predict a person's mentality and whether or not that person will commit a crime. Based on the same algorithm by an unsentimental artificial intelligence, the cops at the FBI arrest multiple people on a matrix that creates huge chaos. Meanwhile, Ashley Poet, Tayo Michaels, Hour Nazari, and Daniel Lennix (played by Mara, Henry, Moafi, and Smith), along with a few more former mates from the Class of '09, take charge in their hands to destroy what they built and ran before losing all controls to a non-worthy authority.
From the exceptional plotline to the great screenwriting, Tom Rob Smith's creation keeps you hooked to the screen. On the other hand, the VFX as well as the intricate details of the past, present, and future make the show visually appealing.
Meanwhile, all the actors portray their characters with unique personalities adequately and with finesse. Among all of them, Kate Mara and Brian Tyree Henry catch your eye the most.
The latest futuristic drama thriller series is an eye-opener on something you already know but don't understand how to avoid or dodge.
Verdict: It would be an understatement to just call the Class of '09 binge-worthy and not the finest! Stream the drama-thriller series on Disney+ Hotstar now.
