Story:

A 200 crore-worth Nizam diamond goes missing from The Royal Mummies Museum of Hyderabad. Police begin investigating the case. Meanwhile, Bachchan Saab (Akash Puri) is a thief who tries to create a world record by removing maximum car tyres in 30 minutes. The cops find out that the diamond is in Chor Bazaar. What connects Bachchan Saab to the robbery? Will the cops get hold of the diamond?

Review:

The director does a fine job of highlighting the eccentricities of the Chor Bazaar area and its community backed by adequate detailing. The production design, especially, deserves praise for creating such an authentic ambience. The cinematography makes an impression too.

However, the biggest letdown in the film is the story itself. In addition, the screenplay is poorly written. The director fails to narrate the story convincingly. Not a single character stays in your mind after the film because of the half-baked characterisation.

Despite roping in names like Sunil, Archana, and Subbaraju, the director struggles to give them anything meaty. The leading lady Gehna Sippy and the other supporting actors don’t get enough scope to shine either.

It’s evident that Akash Puri, with his recent releases, is trying to push himself as a mass actor by doing out-and-out action movies. He’s most likely said yes to Chor Bazaar for the same reason and he truly performs with ease. His voice modulation and dialogue delivery show vast improvement.

However, with the action sequences, Akash Puri has a long way to go to exude that natural ease with his body language. The romance thread is unimpressive too. On the whole, the film tests your patience with the haphazard narration and unimaginative writing.

Verdict:

Chor Bazaar is an outdated action drama. Akash Puri is the only silver lining in the film. Though the mass audiences may take a liking to the action episodes, the film has nothing new to offer.
