Aho Vikramarka Story

Vikramarka(Dev Gill) is a corrupt cop who takes bribes and enjoys his life. One fine day, things change when he comes to that the entire region is suffering because of a deadly goon played by Pravin Tarde. Things turn on its head when Vikramarka's girlfriend(Chitra Shukla) is kidnapped by the goons. He reaches the villain's den and finds out key truths about his past and family. The rest of the story is about how Vikramrka saves everyone from the evil crutches of the villain.

Aho Vikramarka Review:

Dev Gill is known to the Telugu audience with the S S Rajamouli film Magadheera. After playing some negative roles in several Telugu films, he now plays the main lead in Aho Vikramarka. The special aspect is that Dev Gill has also produced this film in Hindi and Marathi. Aho Vikramarka's story is simple. A corrupt cop finds his roots and takes on the villains who have harmed his family. This subject has been dealt with in so many films earlier.

S S Rajamouli's assistant, Trikothi has directed Aho Vikramarka and he has showcased Dev Gill superbly. But the rest of the film is dull, boring, and over the top. Aho Vikramarka has a heavy Marathi flavor and actors who are unknown to Telugu cinema. Leaving that aside, the film lacks basic emotions and bores you completely.

Also, the film is heavily inspired by KFG. The makers have tried hard to give Aho Vikramarka the flavor of KGF but one can say that things do not work one bit apart from the action part. The love story is okay but the villain's track and the second half are a huge mess. There are a few moments that click in the first half.

The interval bang and the fight sequence showcased are pretty good and elevate the film to a decent level. But once the film enters the villain's den, a mother-son angle is brought in this is so over the top. The villain captures the hero and in all this, he finds out that the woman that is held hostage is his mom.

Till here, things look good but the song that comes at this juncture showcases the mother-bond is silly and so over the top. The logic has gone for a massive toss as the film is filled with boring scenes and so over the top that you are at the exit doors right away.

Coming to the performances, Dev Gill has done quite well. But his expressions are hardly there. He does not show proper emotion in any of the scenes but the way he has done action is just amazing. Chitra Shukla is okay in her role and so is Sayaji Shinde. Pravin Tarde overacts for no reason.

Tejaswini Pandit is good in her role but is limited in her screen presence. Baahubali Prabhakar was loud and so were the other cast. The production values of the film are top notch and the camerawork is good. The action choreography needs a special mention as it looks stylish.

The Telugu dialogues were okay but the film is lengthy and goes on and on. Dev Gill has done well in the film directed by Trikoti but the rest of the proceedings and over-the-top drama and emotions make this film a silly watch.

Aho Vikramarka Verdict

On the whole, Aho Vikramarka is an outdated action drama that has nothing going its way. Apart from a few action blocks, the film is routine, boring, and over the top. Skip the film this weekend and watch it when it lands on OTT.
