The American filmmaker Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest filmmakers of the 'New Hollywood' era. Known for his movies of various genres, ranging from family drama to war movies to science fiction, Spielberg is the winner of multiple accolades including the Academy Award as well as the BAFTA. He made the television film Duel in 1971, and later, in 1974, he made The Sugarland Express, which was his theatrical film debut.
He became a popular filmmaker after helming critical and commercial successes such as Jaws in 1975 and Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977. In 1981, he directed The Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was the first movie of the critically successful Indiana Jones franchise.
1993 was a good year for Spielberg as both his movies Jurassic Park and Schindler's List received universal acclaim, with him winning an Academy award for best director for the latter. He won his second Oscar for directing in 1998 for the movie Saving Private Ryan.
The science fiction movie, Minority Report, the animated movie, The Adventures of Tintin and the political thriller, The Post are some of Spielberg's most notable works.
In 2022, he directed the semi-autobiographical drama based on his formative years titled, The Fabelmans.
