Several filmmakers from this century have taken inspiration from Stanley Kubrick while directing films. David Fincher is one among them and has adopted (or borrowed) the fidelity to perfectionism – one of Kubrick’s most recognisable traits. After creating music videos for various bands, he made his filmmaking debut with the lacklustre Alien 3. However, he would go on to direct modern-day classics such as Se7en and Fight Club.
Fincher’s perfectionism involves multiple takes and extensive use of CGI. Fincher uses computer graphics to attain a realistic look to his films. A notable example would be his use of CGI to recreate the city of San Francisco in the 60s and 70s in the movie Zodiac.
The Social Network, Mank, and Gone Girl are his other prominent films. He also helmed the critically-acclaimed Netflix series, and Mindhunter, which is widely regarded as one of the best Netflix Original shows.
