Trisha Krishnan made her entry into the film industry after winning the Miss Chennai pageant in 1999. After a minor supporting role in the 1999 film Jodi, she made her first appearance as the lead heroine in the 2002 movie Mounam Pesiyadhe. In 2004 and 2005, she appeared alongside Tamil superstars Vijay and Surya in the movies Ghilli and Aaru, respectively. Her roles in these movies made her a household name in the Tamil film industry.
Abhiyum Naanum and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa are her other movies that received much critical acclaim. She also acted in the 2018 movie 96, alongside Vijay Sethupathi.
Ponniyin Selvan Part 2, starring Vikram, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai, was released on April 28th 2023.
