Parasite

Parasite is a South Korean dark comedy thriller film released in 2019. The movie is based on a true story and stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyung in lead roles. The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 and won the Palme d'Or, the first South Korean to claim the award. The storyline is based on the economically disadvantaged Kim family, who find an opportunity to join their son in serving the wealthy Park family. The Kim’s soon begin to lead a parasitic life.

The Chase

A 2017 South Korean crime mystery movie that stars Baek Yoon Shik and Sung Dong Il in lead roles. The story follows Shim Duk Soo, a land owner of a down-town apartment who notices his tenants disappear under mysterious circumstances and seeks help from a former detective. He learns a serial killer from 30 years ago has become active again.

Memories of Murder

A 2003 South Korean crime thriller film that is recognised as one of the best South Korean movies ever made. It has won nearly thirty awards for cinematography, editing, background score, screenplay and direction. Song Kang-ho stars as Detective Park and Kim Sang-kyung as Detective Seo in lead roles. The story follows the detectives as they investigate the rape and murder of many women. Although the film does not shy away from brutality, it uses humour to defuse the tension.

Train to Busan

This is a South Korean zombie horror film that premiered in the Midnight Screenings section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The movie set a record as the first Korean film of 2016 to break the record of getting 10 million viewers to theatres. The story revolves around Seok-woo who travels in a high-speed train with his daughter from Seoul to Busan to meet his wife, but on his way gets entangled in a mysterious zombie apocalypse.

Night in Paradise

Night in Paradise is a 2020 South Korean crime drama film starring Uhm Tae-goo, Jeon Yeo-been and Cha Seung-won in lead roles. This blood-splattered crime film is based on a gangster Tae-gu who flees to Jeju Island to hide, where he encounters a terminally ill woman Jae-yeon. As they learn about each other's lives, they start to pity themselves.

Forgotten

A 2017 South Korean psychological thriller film starring Kang Ha-neul and Kim Mu-yeol in the lead roles with Na Young-hee and Moon Sung-keun in supporting roles. The story is about Jin-seok, a young man who gets abducted and released after 19 days. After his release, he finds a lot of discrepancies around his family members when he learns the year he is currently in is not 1997 but 2017.
