Packed with political shenanigans, the show’s compelling narrative style and plot points ensure that it’s counted among the top shows of all time.   

Here are a few facts about the seven-Emmy-winning show that you probably didn’t know:

1. In the epic ending of Season 2, the sound made by Frank Underwood’s ring as he bangs his fist against the desk is also a part of the sound effect that now plays right before the beginning of Netflix’s Original Series and films.

2. Two weeks prior to its official release, Season 3 was accidentally released on Netflix and later pulled down around 17 minutes later.

3. In Season 4, Claire Underwood uses her maiden name, referring to herself as ‘Claire Hale Underwood’, which is very similar to Hillary Clinton who has referred to herself as ‘Hillary Rodham Clinton’ throughout her career.

4. After working with Robin Wright in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, David Fincher directly offered her the role of Claire Underwood in House of Cards, promising her that she would have great inputs in the creation of the character.
