IPL 2023: Are Impact Players really impactful? Match-wise list of cricketers used, substituted
Here is a match-by-match list of all the impact players employed thus far in the IPL 2023.
Are Impact Players really impactful?
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has come up with a new exciting rule - Impact Player - and teams have already started using it to their advantage. However, has this rule benefited the squads and have impact players proven to be impactful? Let's have a look:
Firstly, what is an impact player?
The Impact Player rule means that one player from a team's playing XI can be replaced during a match.
There are, however, several caveats to this:
1. Five substitutes must be named before each game, and one among them can be chosen as the impact player.
2. Unless a team had fewer than four foreign players in its starting eleven for that game, the Impact Player will be an Indian.
3. The Impact Player may be introduced at the start of an innings, following the loss of a wicket or the retirement of a batter, or after an over.
4. If an Impact Player enters the game during batting innings, they may bat anywhere in the lineup as long as no more than 11 batters are sent out.
5. No matter when they enter the game if they are introduced during a fielding innings, they will be able to bowl up to four overs.
Here is a match-by-match list of all the impact players employed thus far in the IPL 2023.
This list will be updated with each game.
