The time-worn undercurrents of hyper nationalism and patriotic rants are too feeble to save a movie that needed a drastic makeover, and not just creative lifting.

Torbaaz could have been such an inspiring tale, but the loose plot, chock full of colourless characters, meanders minus focus.

The bat eventually connects with the ball on the pitch, but the plot is all over the place.

Film Review | Main Tera Hero

Main Tera Hero is a pav bhaji picture, quick, spicy, hot. It has the depth of a comic strip but it also has its neon-shaded fun.


Varun tries everything in his repertoire to be this hero: he fights, dances, and tries to be funny, topping it all up with a man-boob-mobile-nipple moment.

Main Tera Hero unfortunately takes a long, meandering, and utterly boring route to get to the climax we all saw coming two minutes into the film.

This one’s worth it for the ‘howlarity’ of it all. And Shahid in his element. ‘Vishwas’ nahin hota? ...Go watch! 

While the first half of the film is at least filled with dialogues aimed at making audiences laugh out loud, it seems Santoshi, who wrote the film.

Rajkumar Santoshi's PPNH starts with a lot of promise but it soon fizzles out and even tests your patience.

There’s a lot to like in this Riteish Deshmukh film

If you are familiar with Mumbai's working-class neighbourhoods, where the hearts of the poor are bigger than the pay packages of those residing in the mushrooming high-rises, you'll be able to notice the beauty of Banjo

You expect better from Deshmukh, whose artfully dusty, tangled tresses and toned, worked-out frame don’t match up to the required grunginess of his character description

If you're going to watch Banjo, make sure that you do not buy a recliner seat, because you'll be signing up for a sleeping fest
