Piku is a delightful film about very little and yet it says so much.

Piku makes you shake with laughter. It also makes your heart cry.

Big B, Deepika and Irrfan's movie sparks in moments. But the rest of it stays only mildly amusing.

Shoojit Sircar's film stars Amitabh Bachchan as a constipated widower, Deepika Padukone as his long-suffering daughter and Irrfan Khan as her emotional enema.

For a film where a chunk of running time is devoted to lengthy discussions on constipation, it isn't surprising that Piku has characters who firmly believe in letting it out of the system.

Mardaani fails to give any impetus to women empowerment

While there is nothing in the plot that you haven't seen before, it is still watchable for the superb performance of Rani.


As Shivani Shivaji Roy, a Mumbai Crime Branch cop, Rani Mukerji plays it straight.


See it as a 'Lady Singham', and Mardaani is, until it’s rather grisly and ghastly end, a decent watch, mostly thanks to Mukerji's performance.



Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar deserves a pat on his back for this one. He not just gets the best performances out of his cast but keeps his focus right making Mardaani a great watch.
