ZNMD 2 in the works? Farhan Akhtar spills the truth behind viral tease video

Days after Reema Kagti rubbished all speculations around the making of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara sequel, or what we popularly know as ZNMD 2, Farhan Akhtar has spoken on the very topic himself. He went back to the viral tease video which got people excited about the sequel itself. Farhan spilled the truth about what really happened, and you're not ready for it!

Farhan Akhtar confirms if ZNMD 2 is in the works

Like Reema Kagti, Farhan Akhtar dismissed the rumours of ZNMD 2, but in his style. When he was asked the question in an interview with Zoom, Farhan went silent. He then followed it up with an 'I don't know' and a very vague statement.

Farhan Akhtar teases Dabba Cartel women might have an answer to ZNMD 2

In a move that was purely promotional, Farhan said that the women of Dabba Cartel could have an answer to the question. This is because the filmmaker was in the interview to promote his upcoming series and did not wish to deviate and talk about ZNMD 2. Those who have seen Dabba Cartel are already aware that there's no tease about ZNMD 2 there. However, the filmmaker might be talking about on-set discussions, since ZNMD sequel is a hot topic ever since he got together with Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol for the viral video where the speculations began.

What Farhan Akhtar says about the viral video where ZNMD 2 speculations began

In the same interview, Farhan called it a co-incidence that the trio were together and noticed the words 'Three Musketeers.' "It was just a spontaneous move to make a video (and nothing more)," he explained. The ZNMD trio coming together, in reality though, was more than 'just a co-incidence.' They were approached by a Dubai-based brand and collaborated for the same. They even got the very car used in ZNMD, which is why the signs were confused for ZNMD 2 but in reality, the film is not happening. Yes, even if Zoya Akhtar showed interest in the project initially, it is not on the table, at least for now.

Reema Kagti asked fans to leave ZNMD alone

Reema Kagti had stated in an interview that a film like ZNMD should be left alone till a strong script for a sequel is in place. Of course, that is not the case yet. Thus, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 2 is not happening, at least at the moment. But hey, we have Farhan Akhtar and Reema Kagti's projects for entertainment this week. Farhan's Dabba Cartel can be streamed on Netflix, while Reema Kagti's Superboys of Malegaon is out in theatres. Take your pick (we say give both a chance).
