Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon pushed out by WB’s Justice League from Netflix’s Top 10 list – Here are the other 9 films leading

In some sort of ironic scheme of things, Justice League has pushed Rebel Moon out of Netflix’s Top 10 list, which also includes Aquaman.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire, the first of the two films in his Rebel Moon franchise, dropped on the platform exactly a fortnight ago and found a vast audience soon. While the critical reception was mixed, the film somehow managed to crack a very impressive audience. Whether the same reflects when the sequel releases in April or not is a mystery. But, as per the latest reports, A Child Of Fire is no longer on Netflix’s top 10 list and has been pushed out by the Justice League.

This is a bit ironic considering the drama that has unfolded around Snyder’s participation in the DCEU and Justice League, in particular. The filmmaker was in charge of the 2017 releases but had to step down due to a personal tragedy. However, after the replacement, Joss Whedon, didn’t serve what the audience expected, a worldwide movement to bring back Zack Snyder and also release Snyder Cut Of Justice League broke.

Coming back to the Netflix top 10 list. Rebel Moon was sitting on top for a while and then gradually started falling to lower positions. The latest readings say that it is now completely off the list. The primary reason for this is the giant wave of Sony and Warner Bros. content that landed on Netflix. While Sony has cracked a deal with Netflix to release their new hits on the platform after their release on the big screen, Warner Bros. Discovery is now licencing their hit films to stream on other platforms.

The list has Equalizer 3 leading, as films like Aquaman, Meg 2, John Wick, and Elvis follow. Below is the complete list of films on Netflix’s top 10 list:

Equalizer 3 (2023)

image_item

Director: Antoine Fuqua.

Cast: Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, David Denman, and Ensemble.

Taking the adventure of Robert McCall ahead, Equalizer 3 is about him saving a small town that he has become fond of. A crime syndicate has brutal intentions and wants to extort the people of the town. How the hero jumps in and saves the day is the story.

Aquaman (2018)

Director: James Wan.

Cast: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, and Ensemble.

Despite the fact that Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom failed to create any emotion in most of the viewers, it was a given that most of us would want to revisit the 2018 Jason Momoa starrer that was way superior to its latest sequel. Netflix hit gold when they brought this one home.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

Director: Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, and Pierre Leduc.

Cast: Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Ensemble.

How can one resist the urge to watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie if it is streaming on Netflix? The supremely successful animated movie is one of the most successful box office winners of 2023. It is a given that it will continue to have a huge audience while streaming for a while.

Meg 2: The Trench (2023)

Director: Ben Wheatley.

Cast: Jason Statham, Jing Wu, Cliff Curtis, and Ensemble.

One of the most surprising ones on the list because Meg 2 had not impressed a lot of people when it was released in 2023. However, the backdrop of historic sea creatures attacking humans who enter their territory is lucrative and might have worked for the audience to invest time on Netflix.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019)

Director: Chad Stahelski.

Cast: Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, and Ensemble.

Franchises may come and go, but Keanu Reeves’ John Wick will remain relevant forever and even beyond. The movie stars Reeve in the lead role as the assassin who is out there to avenge his dead dog. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum wasn’t as celebrated as the fourth part but still walked on its own merit.

John Wick (2014)

Director: Chad Stahelski.

Cast: Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, and Ensemble.

It seems like the world is getting in sync with the John Wick franchise, as nothing else explains the presence of both movies on this list. There is no fifth-chapter update and no Keanu Reeves spin-off, but still, there is an audience that is revisiting the films in the franchise.

Elvis (2022)

Director: Baz Luhrmann.

Cast: Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, and Ensemble.

Elvis indeed made a huge buzz on release and had a decent run in theatres. The movie explored the famous rock and roll singer Elvis Presley’s life as he moved to the top of his game. It also showed how he struggled to get out of the clutches of his controversial manager.

Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)

Director: Taylor Sheridan.

Cast: Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Finn Little, and Ensemble.

It looks like Assassin dramas are the flavour of the fortnight on Netflix. This is the fourth on this list, as a smoke jumper is rescuing a kid from assassins. She has to make her way through a lightning storm, a wildfire, and extremely difficult situations to save him.

The First Purge (2018)

Director: Gerard McMurray.

Cast: Y’lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, and Ensemble.

A dark prequel, The First Purge is a social experiment that makes the participants do some dark things, which is what makes the centre of this story. When a new political party comes to power, the game begins, and it is not fun at all. The dark movie finding an audience on Netflix is interesting.

Justice League (2017)

Director: Joss Whedon.

Cast: Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, and Ensemble.

Who could have thought that the Justice League would find an audience on Netflix? The movie that has Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck’s Batman forming a team to beat a villain that is stronger than all of the previous ones was one of the most anticipated ones back in the day and also the most underwhelming when it finally released.
