Ever since the tragic and untimely passing of Kannada cinema’s Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, fans had put all their hopes on Yuva Rajkumar to carry the torch of the former’s legacy, while also establishing himself as the next big thing from the Rajkumar family. Yuva, his debut film, was meant to kickstart this journey in a big way, but the Santhosh Ananddram-directorial did precious little besides showcasing the actor’s impressive dance and action skill sets.
Since the film’s release early this year, Yuva was in the news briefly, when he filed for divorce, with rumours suggesting that his alleged fling with Yuva co-star Sapthami Gowda was at the heart of it. There’s been quiet on that front for a while and now we hear that the actor is busy prepping for his next film.
Turns out, this time around it will be as good as a home production for Yuva. Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar’s PRK Productions will back his next film, with KRG Studios co-producing; People Media Factory is also likely to be involved. The big question that remains, though, is who will be in the director’s chair and take the responsibility of giving Yuva the right kind of film that he and his fans deserve?
Who will direct Yuva Rajkumar's #Yuva02?
According to the buzz in industry circles, several names are being heard in contention to direct #Yuva02. From Duniya Suri to Krishna S, Shreelesh Nair, Narthan, Tharun Sudhir to Puri Jagannadh, and others, there is a lot of speculation currently. While fans believe that Puri Jagannadh, who launched Puneeth as a hero with Appu, could be the right choice, Puneeth Rudranag, who was to have directed Yuva in a film called Yuvaranadheera Kanteerava, could also be in the reckoning.
However, given that KRG Studios is involved, there is yet anther name that’s doing the rounds. Rohit Padaki, who has made Rathnan Prapancha for the banner and is currently in the midst of making the two-part gangster flick Uttarakaanda is the one who has been entrusted with the responsibility of #Yuva02.
An official announcement is expected during the upcoming festival, what with KRG Studios’ Karthik Gowda’s cryptic post about getting back on track with an exciting project.
