Last week, the buzz in Kannada industry circles was that Yuva Rajkumar’s much-awaited debut, Yuva, would be postponed yet again. The rumour came up after it was revealed that actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty’s next directorial, Richard Anthony would still be a Hombale Films production and that he was likely to take the Ulidavaru Kandanthe spin-off on floors by the end of March. It was thought that Hombale Films would likely have the muhurtha on March 28, which, as of now is the date allotted to Yuva’s release.
The buzz was that a new date would be announced for Yuva, but the actor has now confirmed that his film will stick to the original plan and be in theatres in March. The Santhosh Ananddram directorial is in its final stages of shooting, with about 3 days-worth work still pending. Sources suggest that it is a song shoot, following which the film will be complete. Hombale Films is expected to make official announcements about the film’s publicity thereafter.
Yuva was initially meant to make his debut with a period action flick called Yuva Ranadheera Kanteerava, directed by Puneeth Rudranag, a teaser for which was launched as well. It was later, however changed around, making way for Santhosh to do the honours of launching the next actor from the Rajkumar family. Santhosh was working on a script for the late Puneeth Rajkumar when he tragically passed away. It is not clear if Santhosh has reworked the same for Yuva’s debut, although some sources point to that.
Yuva is paired with Kantara fame Sapthami Gowda in the film that also has Achyuth Kumar and Prakash Raj on board. The film is Santhosh’s fourth collaboration with Hombale Films after Raajakumara, Yuvarathnaa and Raghavendra Stores. The film, which will have music by B Ajaneesh Loknath, was initially meant to be a December 22, 2023 theatrical release, but it was pushed ahead to accommodate Salaar: Ceasefire instead.
