Will Ferrel and Reese Whitherspoon headline a new wedding comedy written and directed by Nick Stoller, the man behind films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Neighbors, and Bros, that is headed to OTT shortly. A trailer for the film came out recently and follows the chaos ensuing from Ferrel and Whitherspoon realizing that the venue they’d booked for separate events, had been double booked.
You’re Cordially Invited is about two weddings at the same remote island resort off the coast of Georgia. Whitherspoon plays Margot, who has been planning her sister, Neve’s (Meredith Hagner) dream wedding, while Ferrel is Jim, whose daughter Jenni (Geraldine Viswanathan) is also getting married on the exact same weekend.
It’s literally the stuff of nightmares for both the brides. What happens when the two families meet and try to make do with the limited resources at hand is what the film is all about. Naturally, there will be a lot of mishaps and related laughs what with Ferrel and Whitherspoon trying to outdo each other to ensure their side of the party goes off without a hitch. But will the two ladies get the perfect weddings they’d dreamed of?
The film, which also stars Jimmy Tatro, Stony Blyden, Leanne Morgan, Rory Scovel, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Jack McBrayer, Rory Scovel, Bobby Moyniham, Ramona Young, Lauren Holt, Fortune Feimster, Wyatt Russell, Vinny Thomas and Celia Weston, is set to release on Amazon Prime Video. The streamer has set a January 30, 2025 release date for the film.
Stoller, Ferrel and Whitherspoon serve as producers along with Jessica Elbaum, Conor Welch and Lauren Neustadter. The film has a runtime of 109 minutes, and been rated R for language and some sexual references.
