Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Re-Release Box Office Collection Day 2: The last two years have demonstrated how effectively nostalgia can be monetized. Several cult classics have returned to Indian cinemas, with their box office performance showcasing their enduring demand. This year began with the re-release of one of the most beloved youth films of the past decade—Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD)—directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Dharma Productions. The film, a joyous tale of friends on a transformative vacation, became a generational equivalent to Dil Chahta Hai. Naturally, its re-release this week created significant buzz at the box office.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Re-Release Box Office Update

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was re-released in theaters on January 3, 2025. The announcement had been anticipated for some time, and when it finally dropped, fans celebrated. Theaters have transformed into concert halls, as audiences flood in, dancing to its iconic songs and shedding tears during Bunny and Naina's bittersweet moments. Unsurprisingly, the box office saw a surge in collections.

On day 2, the movie collected ₹2.40 crore, almost doubling its ₹1.20 crore earnings from day 1—a remarkable 100% jump. Considering its original release was over a decade ago, this performance is extraordinary. The total re-release collection now stands at ₹3.60 crore (nett).

Impressively, YJHD has also surpassed the collection of a new release, Baby John. While the Varun Dhawan starrer managed to collect only ₹80 lakh on its 11th day (Saturday), the Kapoor-Padukone re-release earned ₹2.40 crore on the same day at the domestic box office.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Show Count Increased

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s re-release generated immense excitement, prompting theaters to increase its show count. Initially allotted 750 shows on day 1, the demand led to a significant rise, with approximately 1,600 shows scheduled on day 2. This impressive feat highlights the film’s enduring popularity, even after 12 years.

Originally released on May 31, 2013, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani grossed around ₹188 crore (net) in India and ₹302 crore worldwide on a reported budget of ₹40 crore. It will be interesting to see what new milestones the film achieves during its re-release.
